Chicken, Change & Cheatin'

We hopped on Route 81 south, said goodbye to the snow, and headed for sunshine. We stopped in Harrisburg, PA at a Perkins to eat. I had a real Frisco Melt! It was delicious. Jamie had a Hibachi Chicken sandwich. She said it was okay, but only ate half of it.

We got back on our way and talked a good deal about lots of things. I was in an odd mood due to the fact that I was with Jamie on a trip so soon after our breakup. (I wanted to kiss her so badly I could taste it.) I told her that I felt weird and that I wanted to put my hand on her leg like I always did when we were driving. She said okay, so I did.

We drove all night and in Virginia missed our turn onto Rte. 66 to get from Rte. 81 to Rte. 95. We stopped to get directions after checking the map at a rest stop. Other than that we only stopped for fuel, drinks, and cigarettes.

I took over driving and the plan was to catch another route and go east until we got to Rte. 95. After about an hour we stopped for coffee and I asked the lady for directions to make sure we were going the right way. She gave us better directions and saved us about three hours. She also gave me the wrong change. She gave me change for $20 when I gave her $5. I didn't realize it until a few hours later when I was counting my money and noticed that I had more money than I started with.

During the drive, Jamie admitted that she cheated on me while she was in Florida with some guy named "Tank". I didn't know how to react. I had suspected it, but, she had told me that she had not, so I took her word for it. She informed me that she didn't tell me so as not to hurt my feelings. This wasn't much better. At least if she told me at home I could go away and deal with it. I didn't want to talk about it then so we let it drop and she went to sleep for a while.

We drove and drove for hours with Jamie asleep in the passenger seat. At least I got to listen to Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and some other music that I like.
