Zack Z. doing his thing.

Tom: You guys are out on tour with Dirty Rotten Imbeciles (D.R.I.). How has it been?
Zakk: It's been awesome so far.
Tom: So have you seen a lot of kids at the shows?
Zakk: Oh yeah! Some of the best shows: Las Vegas was packed. There were a lot of kids going off there! We did a show in Illinois that was over 800 people. It's been really great.
Tom: Tell me about your album.
Zakk: The album is called: "The Few, The Proud, The Brutal" It was produced by Billy Milano of M.O.D. & S.O.D. fame. It's all about hardcore unity and bringing people together back to roots hardcore album. It sounds really good. It turned out really good. Hopefully people will buy it. You can check it out on the website.
Tom: What was it like working with Billy Milano?
Zakk: It was a blast as a matter of fact. We just played out in New York the other day and we stayed at his house in Hoboken. He's a good friend of ours. That's always fun. We did a tour with him and everything and it's always a good time working with Billy.
Tom: Where are you guys from?
Zakk: We're from Milwaukee, Wisconsin… Beer City! Beer City Hardcore!
Tom: Beer City, that's the label that D.R.I. is on correct?
Zakk: Yeah, Beer City Records is doing D.R.I.'s albums now.
Tom: How long are you guys on this tour for?
Zakk: It was a twenty-date tour and this is the fourteenth day. So we have six shows left.
Tom: What are your plans after that? A solo tour or are you hooking up with another band, or what?
Zakk: Yeah, we usually do some solo dates… you know, D.I.Y. tours. Stuff like that. We're gonna work on our new album and a possible M.O.D. Tour in the works. Billy has a new album coming out. So, there might be a tour to follow that. But mainly we want to get back and, uh, start the new album.

Tom: Any idea when that will be coming out?
Zakk: I don't know. We're hoping soon. We want to get it out.
Tom: What is the craziest thing to happen to you on this tour?
Zakk: I don't know. Not too much craziness on this tour. The other day we were driving and a gas truck had a blowout. That was about the craziest thing. It was right next to us, so that was kind of life-threatening. (Laughs)
Tom: What, like a tire blowout?
Zakk: Yeah. On a big rig, and it was right next to us! It just exploded: "BOOM!" Right in our ears - loud as fuck! But, nothing too out of hand. Last tour there were a lot of fights at shows. One kid died in Illinois of cardiac arrest. That was probably the craziest thing that I've ever experienced at a show.
Tom: Yeah, I guess so! That ranks right up there. So, who are some of your influences?
Zakk: Influences? Well, Agnostic Front, D.R.I. of course, M.O.D. of course, Cro-Mags, Rollins Band, Tom Waites, & Kurt Vonnegot.
Tom: Ok, what is in your CD player right now?
Zakk: Right now is probably Tom Waites' "Small Change."
Tom: One of my favorites! Awesome. It always rocks.
Zakk: He's great.
Tom: So, any final words, before we wrap up?
Zakk: People should learn to get along and have a good time at shows without fighting, and they should buy our album, and check out our website. Thanks a lot!
