Reflections On Las Vegas

"So, it's called "Six Days in Sin City"…? It sounds like a cool movie."
"It's not a movie."
"What is it?"
"It's my journal…"
"What are you talking about?"
"On my WEBSITE! Haven't you been paying attention?"
"I guess not… I though you were talking about a movie. So, what? You're saying is You did all that?"
"Yeah!"
"Bullshit!"

The preceding was an actual conversation with a guy at Blue Tusk. Many conversations I have with people when they first meet me end that way. I find it amusing that so many people find it hard to believe that a normal person can have an extraordinary life. The best part is when they check out the site and see me later. I love their reactions.

The experiences in Las Vegas were astounding and life changing. I did things that I have never even thought of doing and grew closer to a great friend. In the process, I changed his life as well. I will tell this story for years and years and enjoy every bit of it and so will he... I believe that is the secret to immortality, to live on in the memories of our friends. Sven and I have discussed going back again, but it wouldn't be the same. The first time is always the best in a situation like this. There were surprises waiting for us at every turn that won't be there next time. But there will be new surprises...

We had Sven's birthday party a few weeks after we got got home. Having taken him to Vegas, I got him a small gift for the party: a little bar of soap called "Wash Away Your Sins." It was guaranteed to cleanse your soul and bring it back to shining white. I figured it was something he could use after our experience... The whole crew of our friends showed up and partied with him. Buffy made an ice cream cake shaped like a giant penis. It was as tasty as it was funny. She also made a birthday cape with Sven's name on the back. Everyone signed the cape and added wishes for a Happy Birthday. Woody gave Sven a neon Las Vegas light wth cards and dice on it. It totally fit the mood. Sven had a blast.
A few weeks later, I asked Sven to write his account of the events in Sin City. He wrote me out a five page reflection on the trip and a personal message. I thought the message was great and felt obliged to include it with the story. I feel it sums everything up nicely...
Thankx for this amazing trip. It was some birthday present. It was one I will never forget in a million years. Nothing will ever top this, and I mean nothing. Thankx for all the great memories and being a true friend. Thankx for just listening and understand me and not pressuring me about the tower. You know what I mean.
